Schanzer Eye Institute Update | November 2, 2026
Some weeks bring news that reminds us what this work is really about: people. This week we celebrate a new little life, track a shipment of supplies on its way to Sierra Leone, and share how we are inviting the next generation to join the mission.

Happy Birthday, Tomas Paul Gbondo!
Michael and Hanna Gbondo have welcomed a new son — and they have named him after Tom. Tomas Paul Gbondo joins the family, and we could not be more honored or more delighted.
Congratulations, Michael and Hanna! 🎊🎉🎈 And congratulations to the youngest Bryan Gbondo as well. We are celebrating with your whole family.

Inspiring the Next Generation: Cistercian Preparatory School
On Friday, Tom presented to the Juniors at Cistercian Preparatory School about a mission scholarship available for next summer. It was a joy to share the story of our work in Sierra Leone with young people who may one day carry this work forward — and to invite them to see it for themselves.
If you are a Cistercian student or parent with questions about the scholarship, we would love to hear from you.
